Every day, wherever you are, your light shines. It shines when you smile at a stranger. It shines as you walk through your neighborhood or when you answer a phone call. Your light shines while you shop for groceries or join a Zoom meeting. Yours is a uniquely bright light that affects others even when you are unaware of it.
Your presence matters wherever you go. You make a positive difference in the world just by being you. Please consider that fact for a moment. You make the world a kinder, more compassionate place because you are here.
This blogpost is not a call to action. You are not being asked to do anything. This is a call to be yourself–the one and only YOU. It is a reminder that the world needs you.
You may have never thought about how your light affects people, but I promise you that it does. You don’t have to pretend to be happy when you’re sad. Pretending does not make your light shine brighter. You’re not expected to care for others instead of caring for yourself. Self-sacrifice does not brighten your light. Your light is brightest when you are being yourself.
Like starlight, moonlight, and sunlight, the source of your light is infinite. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Namaste.

This line really struck a chord “You don’t have to pretend to be happy when you’re sad. Pretending does not make your light shine brighter.” It’s such a powerful affirmation to let myself be me in all of my moods and seasons <3
Dearest Sharon, Countless numbers of us needed this reminder right now, I know I did. I always forget we are enough just being and I will read this again to remember – we are a mirror to your own bright light – how grateful I am to you – and all – for shining ❤️
This post resonates with me. It reminds me to cherish my existence and pulls me away from the many demands the world around me makes. We’re often pushed to find a deeper story to explain our existence and actions. Why can’t we just exist: live, breathe, be. I’m grateful for life itself. I’m happy to be me. Content.
Dear Sharon – thank you for sharing *your* bright light! đź’ž
Dear Sharon – thanks for the light you are and for reminding me of my own
